IND vs BAN: Team to Score Fastest 200 Runs in Test - India Surpass Australia's 7-year-old Record

IND vs BAN: India's cricket team continues to push the boundaries of Test cricket, setting new benchmarks with their aggressive batting. On Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, the Indian side became the fastest team to reach 200 runs in Test history.

India achieved this historic feat in just 24.2 overs, surpassing Australia's previous record of 28.1 overs against Pakistan in Sydney in 2017. The Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, laid the foundation for this incredible achievement.

Team to Score Fastest 200 Runs in Test

Their explosive batting strategy paid off as they capitalised on favourable pitch conditions, smashing boundaries and displaying fearless cricket. Rohit and Jaiswal's aggressive approach set the tone for what would become one of the most memorable batting performances in Test cricket.

In a matter of hours, India didn’t just break Australia’s record for the fastest 200 runs, but also set new marks for the fastest 50, 100, and 150 runs in Test cricket. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out with all guns blazing, racking up 50 runs in just three overs.

This was also the fastest team fifty in Test history, smashing the previous record held by England, who achieved the mark in 26 balls against West Indies at Trent Bridge earlier in the year. Rohit’s 23 off 11 balls and Jaiswal’s quickfire 30 off 13 balls set the tone for what would be a dominating innings.

After Rohit's dismissal, Jaiswal continued his onslaught, bringing up his half-century in just 31 balls. His swashbuckling knock of 72 from 51 balls not only solidified India's dominance but also made him one of the fastest Indian batters to a fifty in Test history.

India’s aggressive approach helped them reach 100 runs in just 10.1 overs, breaking their previous record of 12.2 overs set against the West Indies in 2023. By the time they reached 150 in 18.2 overs, Bangladesh was already struggling to regain control.

With India reaching 200 in 24.2 overs, this achievement has firmly cemented India’s place as one of the most formidable Test teams. The quickfire runs, combined with the exceptional skill of Indian batters, demonstrate a strategic shift toward a more aggressive style in Test cricket.
