IND vs BAN Tests 2024: Dinesh Karthik Highlights India’s Home Advantage Ahead of Series Opener

By Rishab V M

As excitement brews among cricket fans, the much-anticipated two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is set to begin shortly.

Both teams are gearing up for a highly competitive red-ball clash, with India hosting Bangladesh for the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19, followed by the second Test in Kanpur on September 27.

Dinesh Karthik feels India has huge home advantage in IND vs BAN Tests 2024

Amidst this buildup, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik shared his thoughts on the upcoming series during a press conference in Chennai. Known for his astute cricketing insights, Karthik weighed in on the challenges Bangladesh will face when playing against India on Indian soil.

India's Home Dominance

India, renowned for their strong home record in Test cricket, will be a tough nut to crack for any visiting team. Karthik emphasized this by highlighting how difficult it is to beat India in their own backyard. He stated, "India at home is going to be difficult to beat. Many teams have come and found it challenging to defeat India."

This comment holds weight, given India's exceptional track record at home. In their last Test series played on Indian soil, India handed England a convincing 4-1 defeat, reaffirming their dominance in familiar conditions.

Bangladesh's Confidence After Pakistan Triumph

Bangladesh, on the other hand, comes into this series on a high note after securing a historic 2-0 Test series win against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The victory has undoubtedly boosted their confidence, and Karthik acknowledged this momentum, saying, "Bangladesh will start with a lot of confidence."

However, despite Bangladesh's recent success, Karthik also pointed out that India will be well-prepared for this challenge. He noted, "India will be aware that it is playing a slightly different Bangladesh team," suggesting that India will not take their opponents lightly, given Bangladesh's improved form.

Karthik's comments bring attention to the unique battle that awaits Bangladesh in this series. While they may be confident after their win over Pakistan, the conditions in India present a very different challenge.

India and Bangladesh last met in a Test in December 2022, and India once again came out on top. However, this Bangladesh side has shown promise, and Karthik's comments reflect both respect for the opposition and confidence in India's capabilities.
