IND vs BAN: Team India will play against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, with the Test opener slated to begin on September 19, Thursday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second and final Test will kick off on September 27 at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Bangladesh will head into the away assignment full of zest and confidence after inflicting a 2-0 whitewash on Pakistan in the recently-concluded two-match Test series. The Tigers will be looking forward to posing serious threats to India as well this time around.

On the other hand, Team India have never lost a Test against Bangladesh so far. Rohit Sharma and Co. will take this assignment seriously considering the Tigers' recent surge in form in Test cricket. As India gears up for their upcoming Test series, several players are looking to make a strong impact. Among them, three batters have a lot to prove, either to regain form, justify their position or cement their spot.
1. Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma who is widely regarded as one of the best openers in international cricket, hasn't quite been able to make a telling impact against Bangladesh in the longest format. His record isn't as impressive as he mustered 33 runs in four Test appearances. While he has excelled against Bangladesh in ODIs and T20s, he has struggled to bring that same level of performance in the longer format. Nevertheless, the Indian captain will be keen to turn things around in the upcoming series and all eyes will be on him to deliver big scores and break the drought against the Tigers.
2. Shubman Gill: Shubman Gill is set to bat at the crucial no. 3 position in this series, with Virat Kohli slated to bat at No. 4. The 25-year-old hasn't fully lived up to his potential just yet in Test cricket as he scored 1492 runs at an average of 35.5, including 4 centuries and 6 fifties. While he has shown flashes of brilliance but hasn't been as consistent as the team would like from a top-order batter. As a result, the pressure will be on Gill and the upcoming home series offers him a great chance for him to defy the odds and come through with flying colours.
3. Sarfaraz Khan: The 26-year-old is relatively new to the Test arena, having made his debut against England earlier this year. In just three Tests, he has shown a great deal of potential in the middle-order, scoring 200 runs at an impressive average of 50, including 3 fifties. However, being a newcomer, the Mumbai-born still has to prove that he belongs at the highest level. Rightly so, the upcoming series against Bangladesh will be crucial for him as he looks to cement his spot in the Indian Test team.
