He doesn't play the sweep shots fluently, so he avoids it completely. Also, there is no reverse-sweep in his repertory of stroke-making and he is suspect against the short ball. Still, he has a title called 'King Kohli'. Why?

That is because Virat Kohli doesn't stop endorsing challenges even after achieving so much at the highest level. Getting out to a short ball against Pakistan and prior to that, getting a life while playing against Australia to a short ball made Kohli realise that he needs to work harder on how to play the short-pitch deliveries better and with a lot more impact.

So, Virat Kohli went back to the basics. The television clips prior to the beginning of the India vs Bangladesh match in Pune kept appearing on how Kohli continuously worked towards developing a style to counter the short ball. And on pitch, he did what he practiced.

Of course, there was no flamboyance like Rohit Sharma while playing the short ball, but he was at his orthodox best -- cutting, pulling, driving and flicking the ball in between the fielders.

If Rohit is at his best in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, Virat's not far behind. The Bangladesh match even proved it so that there is only one king and that is King Kohli. Be it negotiating the gaps between the fielders or maximizing the 'free-hit' opportunity, Virat Kohli is not a story of a mere fluke. He is a story of hard work and passion. He is a story of confidence and honesty and those elements were in full swing when he took on the Bangladeshi bowling attack.

What is remarkable about the Kohli-Rohit generation is the effortless approach they exhibit after spending close to two decades on the field. The way things are happening in world cricket, there can't be another Kohli in world cricket for sure.

He is a real-life magic who has worked his way up till where he is today. If Virat Kohli would be as talented as Rohit, he would have probably taken over Sachin Tendulkar's 100th-century record a few years ago only.

However, Virat Kohli is a story of hard work and nerves of steel. Perhaps why he is still willing to walk a few extra miles to ensure his stamina, motivation and technique are in place to continue his journey as effortlessly as possible!
