IND vs BAN, World Cup 2023: Fans Troll Hardik Pandya After KL Rahul Lets Virat Kohli Get To Hundred

Pune, October 20: Fans trolled Hardik Pandya moments after Virat Kohli struck his 48th ODI hundred during the 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh in match 17 of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

Kohli could get to his landmark thanks to his partner at the other end - KL Rahul, who let the star India batter have most of the strike in the closing moments of the match with India needing just 18 runs for victory.

While India needed just 18 runs to seal their fourth win on the trot in the ongoing show-piece tournament, Kohli need 19 runs to reach his 48th ODI hundred. That is when Rahul let Kohli have a good shot at reaching the milestone.

The 34-year-old Kohli reached the milestone in 16 balls, in the process also sealed India's 7 wicket win with a maximum as the Indian number 3 soon embraced his batting partner Rahul.

As Kohli was about to reach the hundred, some fans on social media took a dig at Hardik, who had hit a six to deny Rahul an opportunity to get to a hundred in the opener against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Rahul remained unbeaten on 97 in that match, which India won by 6 wickets. So, fans couldn't wait to create memes and troll Hardik after the India vs Bangladesh match. Here are some of the reactions on X, formerly Twitter:

Rahul was absolutely selfless, denying singles to keep Virat on strike so that he could reach his century. Rahul revealed that Kohli was initially hesitant to complete his century and chase the milestone, but he denied the number 3 a single to let him complete his century.

"I denied the single. Virat said it would be bad if you would not take single, people will think playing for personal milestones but I said we are comfortably winning, you go for your shots, complete your century. I said 'it is not won, but I mean we will still win this very easily. If you can get to the milestone, you must try'. And he did that in the end" Rahul told Star Sports after the victory over Bangladesh.
