IND vs ENG 1st ODI: VCA Stadium One Day International Stats & Records, Previous Results in Nagpur

In preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025, India will host England in a three-match ODI series, starting with the first One Dayer at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday (February 6).

On the back of a 4-1 T20I series win, Men in Blue will look to dominate England even in the 50-over format as the home side welcome their star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli among others.

VCA Stadium in Nagpur is all set to host IND vs ENG 1st ODI

Apart from Rohit and Kohli, the likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav will also be part of the India squad that also saw the late inclusion of spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who troubled the English batters in the bygone T20Is.

Jos Buttler will continue to lead England as the series also provides the visitors a perfect platform to tune up before the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held from February 19 in Pakistan and UAE.

England squad will be much similar to the T20I series with only one new face linking up with the group in the form of star batter Joe Root, who comes into the series on the back of good form from the SA20 league.

The visitors will hope the change of format brings fortunes as the action shifts to Nagpur, where England have won one in their only previous 50-over outing at the venue. In 2011 ODI World Cup, England defeated Netherlands by 6 wickets, chasing down 293 with 10 balls to spare.

The Nagpur venue last hosted a One Day International back in 2019, when India defeated Australia by 8 runs, defending a total of 250 riding on a Kohli century and Kuldeep masterclass with the ball.

Overall, India has a mixed record in the limited ODIs staged at the venue, where they have won their last three outings, but won only one of their three previous outings. The Men in Blue’s all four wins came against Australia, while their defeats came against Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The VCA Stadium in Nagpur has staged a total of 9 ODIs so far with most innings totals going close to 300. Here is a look at the VCA Stadium stats and records ahead of IND vs ENG 1st ODI followed by the previous One Day matches results at the venue in Nagpur:
