The 1st Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley has poised a thrilling Day 5 at the Headingley Ground in Leeds.
India, led by Shubman Gill, scored 471, with centuries from Gill (147), Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), and Rishabh Pant (134). England's 465, powered by Ollie Pope's 106 and Harry Brook's 99, trailed by six runs, despite Jasprit Bumrah's 5-83. India's second innings featured KL Rahul (100) and Pant (100), the latter becoming the first Indian to score twin tons in England. A late collapse to 364, sparked by Josh Tongue and Ben Stokes, set England 371 to win.

England's openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, reached 21/0 at stumps. The deteriorating pitch favors India's spinners, but England's aggressive batting keeps them in the hunt. Although it rained before the match, the final day has started at the scheduled time.
On Day 5, both teams wore black armbands and observed a moment's silence to remember Dilip Doshi, a former India player, who passed away aged 77. Doshi, who was an accomplished international player, made his debut aged 32 and picked up 114 wickets in 33 Test matches. The players of both teams are also wearing Black Armbands as a show of respect.
Apart from the Dilip Doshi incident, two other reasons required the players to mourn and wear black armbands in the past few days.
On June 12, Air India Flight AI‑171 tragically crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 people, with the death toll rising to 274 as many doctors also died at the crash building. Both teams wore black armbands and observed a minute's silence before the first Test as a mark of respect.
On June 22, both squads donned black armbands again to pay tribute to David "Syd" Lawrence, a former England and Gloucestershire fast bowler, who passed away at age 61 from motor neurone disease. Lawrence was notable for being the first British‑born Black cricketer to represent England. He featured in five Tests and one ODI between 1988-1992.
