IND vs ENG 1st Test: Will Rain Play Spoilsport On Day 3?- Weather Forecast

IND vs ENG 1st Test: As the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy continues to captivate fans, anticipation builds for Day 3 of the first Test between India and England at Headingley. After two days of engaging cricket, both sides have had their moments, with India holding a firm upper hand going into the third day.

Batting first after being put in by England, India piled on a formidable 471 runs in their first innings. The total was powered by stellar centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant, each of whom played with remarkable flair and control.

Their collective brilliance gave India a solid foundation and put England under immediate scoreboard pressure.

England's innings didn't get off to an ideal start, with opener Zak Crawley falling cheaply. However, the home team found stability through a crucial partnership between Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope. Duckett contributed a valuable 62, while Pope stood tall with a composed and unbeaten century to anchor the innings. By stumps on Day 2, England had reached 209 for 3, still trailing by 262 runs.

Weather has already played a part in the Test match, with rain halting play for nearly an hour on Day 2. And forecasts suggest more interruptions could be on the horizon. According to Accuweather, there's a 65% chance of rain in Leeds on Sunday, with showers likely between 2 and 4 PM. That said, it is unlikely that more than a couple of hours will be lost due to weather interruptions, offering hope for extended play during other sessions.

Heading into Day 3, England's hopes hinge on the unbeaten Ollie Pope, who resumes on 100*, and Harry Brook, who is at the crease with him. The hosts suffered a blow late on Day 2 when Joe Root was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah, who continued his fiery form to claim his third wicket of the innings.

With a daunting deficit still to overcome, England will need a big effort from their current batting pair if they are to close the gap and challenge India's dominance. The third day promises to be a crucial one, with momentum up for grabs and weather adding an extra layer of unpredictability.
