India managed to win a thrilling encounter against England in the 2nd T20I on Saturday (January 25) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chasing a total of 166 runs, the hosts had to battle hard but Tilak Varma's brilliant knock took them over the line. Suryakumar Yadav and his team ended up winning the match by 2 wickets with 4 balls to spare.

India restricted England to just 165 for 9 as the spinners did the trick again. Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy got two wickets each as the visitors failed to score big at the tricky Chepauk wicket. Jos Buttler was the top scorer with 45 runs, but Brydon Carse (31 off 17) and Jofra Archer (12 off 9) were crucial for England.

In the run chase, India lost early wickets as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma fell cheaply. Suryakumar, Dhruv Jurel and Hardik Pandya also failed to make any impact as India were tottering at 78 for 5 at one stage. But Tilak Varma stood tall and played a brilliant knock to steer India home. He stitched a crucial partnership of 20 runs for the 9th wicket with Ravi Bishnoi and remained unbeaten on 72 runs.

Jos Buttler | England Captain: "It was a great game. All credit to Tilak for getting them over the line. We created a lot of chances, really aggressive, pushed them really close. Really pleased with the way we went about with the bat. We lost a few wickets but the aggression was there. Really happy with the style we played. Lots of positives. The way Jamie Smith played was fantastic. We can always improve and we are happy with the style."

Suryakumar Yadav | India Captain: "We felt 160 was good, we bowled really well, good that it went the way it did. We've been playing with an extra batter who can give a few overs. We are playing an aggressive brand of cricket, but as the situation demanded, batters put their hands up. Very happy with the way Tilak batted. (On Bishnoi) He's been batting a lot in the nets, he wants to contribute, not to forget Arshdeep as well. The atmosphere has been really good. We know what we want to do.
