IND vs ENG 2nd Test, Day 3 Session Timings: What Time Will India-England Edgbaston Test Start? What Are The Session Times and Breaks?

IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Shubman Gill's record-breaking innings of 269 powered India into a dominant position by the end of Day 2 in the second Test against England at Edgbaston.

The Indian captain led from the front, guiding his team to a formidable first-innings total of 587, leaving the hosts with a mountain to climb in their response.

Resuming on his overnight score of 114, Gill showed no signs of slowing down on Thursday, adding 155 more runs in a commanding display of patience, precision, and class. His effort not only became the highest Test score by an Indian captain but also set a new benchmark for Indian batters on English soil.

Gill stitched together a crucial 203-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja, who contributed a fluent 89 before falling as the lone wicket in the morning session with the scoreboard reading 419 for 6. After Jadeja's departure, Washington Sundar joined Gill and the pair kept the momentum going, adding another 144 runs. Sundar's composed 42 ended when Joe Root struck to dismiss him, breaking the partnership and soon after, Gill's magnificent knock was brought to an end by Josh Tongue, who finished with figures of 2 for 119.

England's bowlers toiled hard, with Shoaib Bashir picking up 3 for 167 and claiming the final two wickets of Akash Deep (6) and Mohammed Siraj (8). But despite wrapping up India's innings, England's troubles deepened quickly with the bat.

Their reply began in disarray, with Akash Deep removing both Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope for ducks in a single over. Zak Crawley tried to stabilize the innings with 19, but Siraj ended his resistance early in the eighth over. At stumps, England were reeling at 77 for 3, with Joe Root unbeaten on 18 and Harry Brook on 30, needing a big effort on Day 3 to stay in the contest.

Gill, with his double century, became only the second Indian skipper to register one in overseas Tests, after Virat Kohli, and the first to do it on English soil. His 269 now stands as the third-highest individual score by a visiting captain in England, trailing only Bob Simpson's 311 and Graeme Smith's 277.
