IND vs ENG: The first two Tests of the five-match Test series between Team India and England have been done and dusted, with each team winning a game. While the tourists drew the first blood in the series, the hosts made a stellar rebound in the second Test to level the series.
With three more games to be played, there is still plenty of drama and riveting action in store for the fans. It remains to be seen how both teams advance in the third Test match, slated to be held on February 15 (Thursday) in Rajkot.

Rohit Sharma: Indian captain Rohit Sharma is one of the batters who need to lead by example in the top order in the Rajkot Test. He hasn’t quite yet found his mojo going in the ongoing Test series. The senior pro scored 24 and 39 in the Test opener in Hyderabad, falling prey to England spinners, Jack Leach and Tom Hartley.
While the fans expected him to break the shackles in the second Test in Vizag, a venue where he enjoyed extracting goods, failed to anchor the innings as he was dismissed for 14 and 13, falling prey to England’s Test debutant Shoaib Bashir and James Anderson in the respective innings.
Shreyas Iyer: Shreyas Iyer’s brittle batting efforts have taken him nowhere in the ongoing Test series. The right-handed batsman came under fire for his poor shot selection, leading to his dismissals, thereby denting his confidence levels. He scored 35 and 13 in the first Test before scoring 27 and 29 in the second Test.
The point to be noted is, Iyer has been getting starts but his conversion rate has taken a hit. It also hints that the nature of his mistakes are repetitive in nature. Even though he made up for his low scores by running out Ben Stokes in the second innings, Shreyas Iyer - the batter - needs to step up.
Despite his string of failures, he has been getting enough backing from the team management. He needs to repay by letting his bat speak huge volumes in the upcoming Test, or else he might be shown the exit door.
Shubman Gill: Shubman Gill left so many question marks when he struggled to find the spark at No.3 as his disheartening efforts saw him get dismissed for cheap scores. Despite his series of failures, the Indian think-tank still wanted him to seek solace at one down.
Notably, he silenced the critics by smashing a century against England in the second innings of the Vizag Test, which is also his first at No.3. This surreal knock must have reignited his strong hopes of dictating terms at one down and he must capitalise on the momentum to deliver more returns in the upcoming Test.
