IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Shubman Gill etched his name into the record books on Sunday, July 13, as he surpassed legendary Indian batter Rahul Dravid to become the highest run-scorer in a Test series for India on English soil.
Gill achieved the feat during the ongoing third Test of the five-match series against England at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.

Dravid's record of 602 runs from six innings in the 2002 tour of England stood tall for over two decades. However, Gill, in sublime form throughout the series, now has 607 runs to his name from six innings in just three Tests. The young skipper required only two runs in India's second innings at Lord's to break Dravid's long-standing record, which he managed comfortably with a shot off Brydon Carse in the 13th over.
Gill, who has already notched up three centuries in his first two Tests as captain, is now inching closer to another major milestone. Should he score 55 more runs in the second innings, he will overtake Virat Kohli's tally of 655 runs, the most by an Indian captain in a Test series against England. Kohli set the benchmark during the 2016 home series across five matches. The overall record for most runs in a Test series by an Indian captain still belongs to Sunil Gavaskar, who amassed 732 runs in six matches against the West Indies in 1978-79.
India, after bowling out England for 192 in the second innings at Lord's, require 193 runs to win the third Test. If they succeed, Shubman Gill will become just the fourth Indian captain-after Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli-to win a Test match at Lord's. Additionally, the 25-year-old would also become only the second Indian skipper to win back-to-back Tests in England, and the third after Kapil and Kohli to register multiple Test wins on English soil.
As the series intensifies, Gill continues to rise-both as a batter and a leader, crafting history one innings at a time.
