IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Day 2 of the ongoing India vs England third Test at Lord's will be about more than just cricket, as the iconic venue turns into a sea of red in support of the seventh annual 'Red for Ruth Day'.
The special day, which has become a key fixture in England's home summer calendar, is held in memory of Ruth Strauss, late wife of former England captain Andrew Strauss.

Ruth Strauss passed away in December 2018 after a battle with non-smoking lung cancer at the age of 46. In her honour, the Ruth Strauss Foundation was established with the aim of funding research into rare forms of lung cancer and helping families navigate the emotional complexities of losing a parent. At the time of her passing, Ruth and Andrew's two sons were just 10 and 13 years old.
The Red for Ruth initiative has since grown significantly, and Day 2 of the Lord's Test now serves as its annual marquee event. Spectators, players, and staff will don red clothing to show solidarity and raise funds for the cause. The ground itself will reflect the occasion with red-themed decorations and awareness campaigns.
On the field, England have taken a more restrained approach in the third Test, moving away from their aggressive 'Bazball' style. Batting at a more traditional pace, they ended Day 1 on 251/4 after 83 overs, scoring at a modest rate of 3.02 per over. Joe Root leads the charge, remaining unbeaten on 99 at the close of play, while skipper Ben Stokes provided solid support with a composed 39*, despite dealing with a groin injury scare.
India's bowlers had to work hard for their wickets on a pitch offering little assistance. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the standout performer with two crucial scalps. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with one wicket each.
While the cricket promises to be intense, Day 2 will be remembered just as much for the heartfelt cause it supports - a day when cricket and compassion walk hand in hand at the Home of Cricket.
