In the third Test at Lord's, England snatched a hard-fought victory, defeating India by just 22 runs in a dramatic finish. Both top orders fired in the first innings, with England's 387 mirroring India's 387 in response. A tense battle ensued in the second innings, where disciplined English bowling restricted India to 170 in their chase, after setting a challenging target with their second-innings 192. This win allowed England to move ahead 2-1 in the series and shift the pressure firmly onto India's shoulders heading into Manchester.
For India, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is expected to continue in the Manchester Test as well. Shubman Gill continues to lead a youthful side, while the middle order may see changes to address vulnerabilities shown at Lord's. Karun Nair has been disappointing in the series and may get axed as Sai Sudharsan or Abhimanyu Easwaran may replace him.
England's solitary change is set to be Shoaib Bashir, who has been ruled out of the series with a broken finger. Liam Dawson has been named as replacement and he is likely to be named in Playing 11. Apart from that, the hosts are set to keep the same team.
