Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill smashed unbeaten centuries as India took a 46-run lead against England inside the first session on day 2 of the fifth Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on Friday (March 8).
Starting the day with an overnight total of 135/1, India added more than a hundred unblemished as Rohit (102*) and Gill (101*) shared an unbeaten 164-run stand for the second wicket to go into lunch at 264/1.

Skipper Rohit and Gill took on the English bowling attack right from the second over of the session as India took control of the Test, having bowled out England for 218 inside day one.
Rohit scored 13 fours and 3 sixes to reach his 12th Test century and his fourth ton against England in the longest format. Gill, meanwhile, reached his fourth Test hundred with a knock that included 10 fours and 5 sixes.
With this knock, Rohit now has 396 runs from 9 innings in this series, while Gill, the highest run-getter in the series, has amassed 433 runs from 9 innings.
This was both Rohit and Gill's second century in the series, which India currently lead 3-1. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has scored two double centuries in this series, had also contributed with a fifty before being the only wicket claimed by England.
Earlier on Thursday (March 7), Kuldeep Yadav picked up five wickets in his 15-over spell, while Ravichandran Ashwin bagged four wickets in his 100th Test match to bowl out England for a paltry 218. England in fact collapsed from 175/3 to 218 all out.
At stumps on day 1, India were 135/1 with Rohit (52*) and Gill (26*) at the crease following the dismissal of Jaiswal for 57 by Shoaib Bashir, who has claimed the lone wicket for England.
India are already 3-1 up in the five-match series and are well-poised to finish the series 4-1. After losing the first Test, India bounced back remarkably to win the next three matches in the closely contested series. Indian young batters have made their mark in the series.
