IND vs ENG: Star actor Dhanush has wished off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin luck ahead of the ongoing third Test between India and England. Ashwin, who is a big fan of India movies, is just one wicket short of his 500th Test match.

Chennai-born Ashwin is also a big fan of megastar Rajinikanth, who is also the father-in-law of Dhanush who has starred in numerous hit films including Asuran, Raanjhanaa and Vaathi (SIR).

"Go for it @ashwinravi99, rooting for your 500. Om Namashivaaya," Dhanush wrote on X. The post has been shared over 2500 times in the last 18 hours.

Ashwin will become only the ninth bowler to achieve the feat once he picks his first wicket in the third Test match at Rajkot. Only Anil Kumble from India has managed to cross the landmark in Test cricket for India.

The 37-year-old picked six wickets in the first match, and three in the second. In 97 Tests, Ashwin has picked 499 wickets at an average of 23.92 . Ashwin has 34 five-wicket hauls to his name in the longest format of the game.

Ashwin waited for his 500th Test wicket, got a bit longer after India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat Rajkot surface.

“He will definitely complete his 500 wickets on this ground. I am very excited because I have been playing with him for 12-13 years and to achieve this milestone of completing 500 Test wickets is really huge,” Jadeja said ahead of the third Test.

“Honestly, I thought he would complete it in the first Test but it’s okay, whatever is written in destiny… he will complete his 500 wickets in Rajkot, in my hometown,” he added.
