IND vs ENG: Defending a low 230-run target, India pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami ran riot against England in the first powerplay at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 22.
England bowlers were spot on after unbeaten India were invited to bat first in match number 29 of the World Cup 2023. Only Rohit Sharma (87) and Syryakumar Yadav (49) could show spark and take India to 229/9 at the end of 50 overs.

The defending champions England were expected to chase down the target with not many hiccups to register only their second win of the tournament, but the Indian pace unit had other plans.
England collected 30 runs off the first 28 balls as their openers Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow looked all set to race towards the total. However, this dramatically changed when Malan chopped on a Bumrah delivery onto the stumps. On the very next delivery, Joe Root was trapped in front of the stumps to get out for a golden duck. In a span of two deliveries, England were reduced to 30/2 in five overs.
Mohammed Shami, who registered a five-wicket haul in the previous match against New Zealand, dented England further by dismissing Ben Stokes for a 10-ball duck. The star pacer later helped India get rid of Jonny Bairstow (14) to leave England reeling at 39/4 in 9.1 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav clean bowled captain Jos Buttler (10) on the first ball of the 16th over as England lost half their side for 52 runs only. The magical delivery pitched on the off-stump and turned back sharply to go through the bat and pad of Buttler.
The way Indian bowlers attacked and rattled England, left the fans - inside and outside the stadium - completely awestruck. Fans flooded X (earlier known as Twitter) with posts praising the India bowling unit, especially Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Ben Stokes' tweet went viral.
