Pakistan fans on Sunday (October 29) were spotted accusing India and its cricket board (BCCI) of DRS manipulation following Joe Root's dismissal during the India vs England match at the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The incident happened during the fifth over of England's chase of 230 runs on a tricky surface.
Jasprit Bumrah, who clean bowled Dawid Malan in the previous delivery, trapped Root lbw for a golden duck. The batter soon opted for DRS review but the third umpire upheld the onfield decision. A section of fans from Pakistan fell there was a spike on the snicko-meter when the ball crossed the bat and made their feelings apparent on X, formerly Twitter.

The decision looked correct as Bumrah bowled a slightly uppish delivery, that kept low and skid onto the pads while taking the leg stump. Root's leg stump was also visible at the point of impact. However, Pakistan fans felt there was a slight spike when the ball passed the bat, something that Joe Root was also seen making a point to the umpires as he walked back to the pavilion in disagreement.
At the time of writing, next to no England fans were seen complaining about the dismissal on social media platforms while their official fan group Barmy Army, who has been active during the ICC World Cup 2023, didn't post anything about the dismissal either.
Pakistan fans were also spotted complaining of Rohit Sharma successfully reviewing himself not out during the first innings of the match after a Chris Woakes delivery hit him on the pads and was adjudged out. However, the DRS review later confirmed that the ball was going down the leg stump.
Pakistan fans have been making grievances on DRS after their team lost to South Africa while Keshav Maharaj's DRS review went against them in their narrow 1-wicket defeat in Chennai. Pakistan have currently lost four consecutive matches in the ICC World Cup 2023, their first, and are staring at an early exit from the semifinal run.
