England's ODI series against India has taken an unexpected turn. After a less-than-stellar performance in Nagpur, the team decided to shake things up for the second ODI.
Jamie Overton, Mark Wood, and Gus Atkinson came into the side replacing Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, and Jacob Bethell.

Although Virat Kohli returning to the team is the biggest piece of news, England was forced to name their coaches as substitute fielders. Assistant coach Paul Collingwood and batting coach Marcus Trescothick have swapped their clipboards for cricket whites, stepping in as substitute fielders.
So, why this sudden coaching cameo? Well, the England squad has been hit by an injury epidemic. All-rounder Jacob Bethell pulled a hamstring in the first ODI, sidelining him and casting doubt over his Champions Trophy participation. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith is also on the injured list, nursing a calf issue since the T20 series. That is why they had to resort to the coaches for ground fielding.
With Archer and Carse taking a breather for the second ODI, England's bench resembled a ghost town. Ahead of the final ODI in Ahmedabad, the English team has also called up Tom Banton.
But despite the shortage in personnel, the team has put up a decent show in Cuttack. Ben Duckett and Joe Root have showcased their batting prowess as England have crossed the 300-run mark after batting first at the Barabati Stadium.
Joe Root scored 69 runs while Duckett played a breezy knock of 65 runs in just 56 deliveries. Apart from that, captain Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone also played decent cameos, especially Livingstone at the end as the visitors got bundled out for 304 runs.
India's debutant spinner Varun Chakravarthy picked up one wicket while Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowler with three scalps.
