The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (January 18) announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match series against England and the following Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan and UAE.
Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who missed a portion of the Sydney Test due to injury, has been included in the squad, with chief Selector Ajit Agarkar stating that the team management will keep an eye on the pacer's fitness in the lead-up to the tournament.

Keeping Bumrah's fitness in mind and Champions Trophy not that far away, Agarkar confirmed that young pacer Harshit Rana has been included in the squad as cover for the England ODIs, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (January 22).
The other pacers included in the ODI sides are, the returning Mohammed Shami and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Sing, who has been preferred over Mohammed Siraj as Rohit Sharma, the captain, confirmed that team is taking only three pacers for the ICC event next month.
Shubman Gill will serve as Rohit's deputy despite Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel, who was named vice-captain for the T20I series against England, also being included in the side as two of four all-rounders alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Gill and Rohit make up the batting core alongside senior batter Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal, while KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant beat off competition from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel to earn the wicketkeeping slots.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was also a fitness concern, having missed action since November due to a hernia surgery, is also included in the ODI sides as the lone specialist spinner. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, who are part of the T20I side, also missed out. Here is a look at India's ODI squad vs England:
Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana.
