Commentary has become a serious profession in Indian cricket, with former players and seasoned broadcasters earning significant sums for each match day. From high-profile voices to specialists brought in for specific roles, the pay scale varies widely - but remains lucrative across the board.
As the India vs England series continues, the star-studded lineup of commentators has added a different edge to the sport with their nuanced, tailored storytelling, captivating the minds of the spectators.

But how much do the commentators earn these days? As per a report from Cricblogger, the Indian commentators earn handsomely for their stint with commentary.
At the top of the list is Navjot Singh Sidhu, who reportedly earns ₹15 lakh per day. Known for his dramatic style and spontaneous metaphors, Sidhu’s sporadic appearances have not impacted his value. The former India player is known for his poetic way of talking and often hilarious mode of speaking.
Ravi Shastri, a regular on both international and IPL broadcasts, follows with ₹12 lakh per day. Virender Sehwag earns ₹10 lakh, while Ashish Nehra is close behind at ₹9 lakh.
Irfan Pathan, who has made a return to commentary in this England series, commands ₹7 lakh for a match day. Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik both reportedly receive ₹6 lakh per day. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajay Jadeja earn ₹4 lakh, while Harsha Bhogle, despite his experience and presence, draws ₹3 lakh per day.
Bhogle, as per the report, earns the least because of his non-cricketer background. Despite being the longest-serving commentator and perhaps the most household voice, the Hyderabad-born is ranked at the bottom in the earning table.
| Commentator | Reported Daily Fee (₹) |
|---|---|
| Navjot Singh Sidhu | 15 lakh |
| Ravi Shastri | 12 lakh |
| Virender Sehwag | 10 lakh |
| Ashish Nehra | 9 lakh |
| Irfan Pathan | 7 lakh |
| Sunil Gavaskar | 6 lakh |
| Dinesh Karthik | 6 lakh |
| Cheteshwar Pujara | 4 lakh |
| Ajay Jadeja | 4 lakh |
| Harsha Bhogle | 3 lakh |
Apart from this, the regional commentators are also earning in decent numbers for their role, but that is significantly lower than the English or Hindi feed commentators.
