In a thrilling display of aggressive batting, India achieved their highest-ever powerplay total in T20 International (T20I) cricket during the fifth T20I against England at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
The pair of Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma propelled India to a formidable 95 runs within the first six overs, surpassing their previous best powerplay score of 82 runs.

Abhishek Sharma was the standout performer, delivering a rapid half-century off just 17 balls. His innings was characterized by a flurry of boundaries, including multiple sixes and fours, setting an aggressive tone from the outset.
Sharma's dominance over the England bowlers was evident as he consistently found gaps and cleared the ropes with ease. Sharma ended with 58 runs in 21 balls at the end of powerplay, thus surpassing Yashasvi Jaiswal's 53 as the highest score by an Indian in the powerplay in a T20I match.
Sanju Samson opened with Sharma at the crease and added 16 runs before being dismissed. England's bowlers, including Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, faced a challenging task containing the Indian batsmen. Both pacers conceded a significant number of runs in their initial overs, unable to find the breakthroughs needed to stem the flow of runs.
