Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan expressed strong criticism of Prasidh Krishna's performance after India's loss to England in the first Test.
Krishna, who gave away 128 runs in the first innings at an economy rate of 6.40 and maintained a high economy of 6.10 in the second innings, was under scrutiny despite taking five wickets. Pathan highlighted Krishna's poor economy rate, noting it as one of the worst for a fast bowler historically.

"Just look at his economy combining both the innings. He is at No. 2 in terms of the worst economy for a fast bowler in history. Bumrah has this economy in T20s, nearly 6.50. So he will have to concentrate on his economy. He has good height and pace. He will have to learn as soon as possible how to bowl a consistent area according to the batter," Pathan remarked on Sony Sports.
Meanwhile, head coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that India will stick to their plan of limiting Jasprit Bumrah to three Tests in the five-match series against England, despite the defeat in the series opener. Bumrah was the standout bowler, consistently troubling England's batters at Headingley. Gambhir emphasized the importance of managing Bumrah's workload given his injury history and the demanding cricket schedule ahead.
"No, we won't change the plans. For us to manage his workload is more important because there's a lot of cricket going forward and we know what he brings on the table as well. Before he came on the show, it was already decided that he's going to play three Test matches," Gambhir stated on Tuesday.
With the next Test set to begin in Birmingham on July 2, Gambhir noted that no decision has been made on which two Tests Bumrah will play. He expressed confidence in the bowling attack, despite their inexperience, and their ability to compete.
