IND vs ENG: Joe Root registered a four-wicket haul, and finished with his second best bowling figures in Test cricket as India's first innings came to an end on 436 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, January 27.
Joe Root dismissed Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah in the first session of the Day 3 as India could add only 15 runs to their overnight total. Utilising the conditions to perfection, Root left Jadeja 13 runs short of his fourth Test hundred by trapping him in front of the stumps.

The part-time off-spinner then clean bowled Jasprit Bumrah as the ball stayed low and went through the bat and pads to clean the stumps. Root's figures of 4/79 is his second best in Test cricket.
He picked five wickets for just eight runs against India in Ahmedabad on the 2021 tour. The star batter's third best bowling performance came against South Africa in Gqeberha in 2020.
On Day 2, Joe Root picked the wicket of rampaging Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored 80 runs off 74 balls. The off-spinner also picked the wicket of well set wicketkeeper-batter Srikar Bharat (41 off 81).
England walked into the match with three specialist spinners and a part-time spinner in Root. But the number two ranked Test batter in the world emerged as their most impressive bowler in the first innings. Mark Wood, the only England pacer in the first Test, bowled 17 runs without taking any wicket.
Debutant Tom Hartley picked two wickets with his left-arm spin bowling. Off-spinner Rehan Ahmed also picked two wickets, while England's most experienced Test spinner Jack Leach settled with figures of 1/63 in 26 overs. He injured his knee and bowled only 16 overs on Day 2.
Three India batters - Jaiswal (80), KL Rahul (86) and Jadeja (87) missed out on hundreds - but the hosts managed to take a massive 190-run lead before getting bundled out for 436 in 121 overs. England got all out for 246 in the first innings.
