Former cricketer Kevin Pietersen has questioned England's decision to not hold any practice sessions after the first ODI following the team's underwhelming performance in the 0-3 whitewash by India.
Jos Buttler-led England suffered their third straight defeat in the ODI series after folding for 214 in the run chase of 357 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (February 12). England has failed collectively with both bat and ball during this tour, having also lost the T20I series 1-4.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was on commentary duties in the third and final ODI, made a stunning revelation on air, stating that England players took part in only one practice session throughout the series, and that was in Nagpur before the series opener.
"From what I've heard, England have had just one net session this entire trip, if not any. If you're not prepared to do the hard yards, you're not going to improve," Shastri had said during commentary.
Speaking after England's defeat on Disney+ Hotstar, Pietersen questioned the team's approach and said he was "absolutely flabbergasted" when he learnt England players took part in only one net session.
"Ravi Shastri and I were talking upstairs that these guys would've at least practiced in last week or so. They've had one practice session, the day before the Nagpur game, they haven't practiced since. There's only one batter - Joe Root - who had a net. I'm sorry, but you can't come into the subcontinent, keep making the same mistakes, and then decide I'm not going to practice," said Pietersen.
"There's not a single sportsman, man or woman, who goes into a series and decides I'm going to get better without practice. I'm sorry, I'm just so so sorry. I was flabbergasted when I heard that England have not practiced since the first game. Absolutely flabbergasted."
The former England captain later took to his social media account to echo the same and added "losing is fine if you are giving your best, but they didn't try".
"I'm sorry, but I am absolutely gobsmacked that England did not have ONE team practice session since losing the 1st ODI and losing the T20 series. How can this be? Seriously, how?," Pietersen posted on X.
"I believe Joe Root was the only player to have a net this series, post Nagpur. There isn't a single sportsman on this planet who can honestly say, that they'd improve without practicing whilst they're getting beaten.
"There also cannot be one player in that England side that can sit on the plane leaving India and saying to themselves, they did everything they can to try help England win. And for that, I'm am actually incredibly sad this evening.
"Losing is fine if you're giving your best to improve everyday and if England didn't train during this series then they didn't try. Heartbreaking for any England fan!"
