IND vs ENG: Liam Dawson Returns After 8 Years, Shoaib Bashir OUT- England Announce Playing XI For 4th Test In Manchester

IND vs ENG: England have revealed their playing XI for the fourth Test against India at Old Trafford, Manchester, making a single but significant change from the side that clinched victory at Lord's. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who suffered a finger fracture during the third Test, has been ruled out for the remainder of the series.

Replacing him is left-arm spinner Liam Dawson, marking his return to the Test arena after nearly eight years.

IND vs ENG

Dawson, 35, last donned the England whites in July 2017 against South Africa and has since been a consistent performer in domestic cricket. His inclusion is a testament to his perseverance and form in the county circuit, where he has delivered with both bat and ball.

The injury to Bashir occurred when he attempted to stop a fierce straight drive from Ravindra Jadeja on Day 3 at Headingley. A fractured index finger on his left hand cut short what had been an impressive series for the young spinner. He subsequently underwent surgery, ruling him out of England's plans for the remaining matches.

Dawson's comeback adds experience to a side aiming to take an unassailable 3-1 lead. Despite criticism surrounding opener Zak Crawley's form, England have opted to back him once again. The pace attack - Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer - remains unchanged from the previous Test.

Meanwhile, India face selection headaches of their own. Rising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the series, and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will miss the Manchester clash.

Fast bowler Akash Deep, still recovering from a groin injury sustained at Lord's, was assessed in the nets by the support staff, including bowling coach Morne Morkel, but hasn't received clearance to play. With the bowling unit under pressure, uncapped seamer Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad and may debut in the fourth Test.

England XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (vc), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer.
