By MyKhel Staff

IND vs ENG: As India gears up for the third T20I against England in Rajkot, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami's fitness has been a key topic of discussion.

Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak addressed the concerns during a pre-match press conference, confirming that Shami is fit but hinted that team management would make the final call regarding his inclusion in the playing XI.

"Shami is fit," Kotak assured. "But I am not the one who can decide his role. That's something for coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav to decide based on the team's strategy and his workload management."

Mohammed Shami, who returned to the squad after over a year, has yet to feature in the ongoing series against England. Fans and experts alike are eager to see him in action, especially with the Champions Trophy approaching and concerns surrounding Jasprit Bumrah's fitness still looming.

On the batting front, Kotak highlighted the team's preparations for a high-scoring encounter on the Rajkot pitch, known for its batting-friendly conditions. He spoke about individual players having unique strategies against bowlers, emphasizing how players like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma adapt their gameplay to exploit their strengths.

"Each player has their own style," Kotak explained. "Abhishek is fantastic with his offside play and shots all around the ground, while Tilak is very clear about how he wants to take on specific bowlers. It's all about comfort and executing plans effectively."

Kotak also shed light on the comprehensive planning that extends even to the bowlers in batting situations. "Even players like Arshdeep Singh have plans in case they face the last three balls. Everyone is prepared, and we work on these strategies step by step," he said.

With England also expected to bring well-thought-out plans, Kotak anticipates an exciting contest. "Both teams will adapt their strategies as the game progresses. It's a constant chess match," he added.

As India looks to secure a series-clinching win, all eyes remain on whether Mohammed Shami will finally make his much-anticipated comeback on a surface that promises a thrilling run-fest.
