Former India batter Mohammad Kaif defended Indian captain Rohit Sharma from critics who questioned his performance in Test cricket. Kaif praised Rohit's brilliant 131-run innings as a strong response to those critics.
Rohit Sharma's fantastic innings was really important in saving India's innings, along with Ravindra Jadeja. This was especially crucial when India was struggling at 33/3 in the first session of the match in Rajkot.

In response to media persons, Kaif said, "Muh tod jawab diya, Rohit ne muh tod jawab dia hai. People who criticised him should keep quiet. He has always silenced his critics with his bat. Whenever anyone doubted his calibre he scored a century like this. I would suggest people not jump to conclusions too early. He is a good cricketer."
Rohit also made history by becoming the oldest Indian captain to score a century in international cricket. He surpassed Vijay Hazare's record in 1951 to achieve this milestone.
The NatWest hero Mohammad Kaif also stated that Rohit Sharma can perform well in any conditions: "When Rohit opened in England, people said he had no footwork and would flop, but he scored a half-century at Lord's and a hundred at the Oval. Rohit can adapt to any conditions; he plays spin well in India. We need to be cautious in criticizing Rohit Sharma too quickly; he is a very talented player, and his average as an opener is quite impressive."
Kaif also commented that without Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the team, Rohit Sharma, the only senior player with extensive experience, is playing alongside youngsters. "Now, with no Virat Kohli, no KL Rahul, and no Mohammad Shami in the team, he's playing with youngsters. He is the only player with such experience, and this century has come at the right time. He has also answered the critics."
