IND vs ENG: Ollie Pope missed out on his double hundred by four runs after being dismissed as the last batter in England's second innings against India at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Pope was in need of four runs to hit a double hundred when England lost their ninth wicket in the form of Mark Wood on the final ball of the 102nd over. Pope attempted to play a reverse-scoop on the first ball of the 103rd over from Bumrah but was clean bowled after failing to read the change of pace.

Pope missed on a very well-deserving double hundred but but received a standing ovation from every one present at the ground, and India players including captain Rohit Sharma also lined up to shake hands with him.
Also, the right-hand batter went past former Pakistan opener Saaed Anwar in the list of visiting batters to score most runs in the second innings of a Test match in India.
Saaed Anwar scored 188 not out runs in the second innings for Pakistan in Kolkata in 1999. Former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower is on the top of the list. He scored unbeaten 232 runs in the second innings for his team in Nagpur in 2000.
The England number three also entered an elite list of batters to outscore first innings deficit single-handedly. VVS Laxman is leading the list with his 281-run knock in the famous 2001 Eden Gardens Test versus Australia. Australia had taken a 274-run lead in the first innings.
The knock from Pope, helped England finish their second innings at 420. India need to chase down a 230-run target to win the first Test and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
