IND vs ENG: Only three India players in current squad featured in last Test match played in Rajkot

IND vs ENG: India are all set to play a Test match in Rajkot after a gap of more than five years. A Virat Kohli-led team faced West Indies at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (SCA Stadium) back in October 2018.

India wrapped up the match inside three days to register an innings and 272 runs. Prithvi Shaw was adjudged Man of the Match for his 134-run knock off 154 balls in India's only innings.

Interestingly, just three players from that playing eleven are part of the current Test squad. Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami were all part of the first Test against West Indies.

Rahul, Pant and Shami are out with injury, while Kohli has made himself unavailable due to personal reasons. Shaw, Pujara, Rahane and Umesh find themselves out-of-favour.

Just three players from the India playing eleven in the 2018 Rajkot Test against West Indies are part of the current India squad for the upcoming third Test against England which starts from Thursday, February 15.

Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav are the three players who featured in India's last Test match at the venue. Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 100 with the bat, and also picked four wickets across the two innings.

Veteran off-spinner Ashwin, who is one short of his 500th Test wicket, picked four wickets in the first innings and two in the second. Kuldeep Yadav picked just one in the first innings, but registered a five wicket-haul in the second innings.

India Test Record in Rajkot

Overall, India have played just two Test matches in Rajkot. India and England locked horns at the venue in November 2016. Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara and Alastair Cook scored a hundred each as the high-scoring match ended in a draw. India won the second and last Test at the venue against West Indies in 2018.
