IND vs ENG Press Conference: New Captain Shubman Gill & Coach Gautam Gambhir To Address The Media Ahead Of England Tour

IND vs ENG Press Conference: As Team India prepare for their much-awaited five-match Test series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a pre-departure press conference featuring newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir on 5th June at 7:30 PM IST.

This will mark Gill's first formal media interaction since taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year.

The press conference is expected to provide insights into India's strategy, squad selection, and the team's readiness for the grueling English summer. For India, this series marks the start of a new era in red-ball cricket, following the retirements of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin in 2024.

India's tour of England kicks off on June 20 at Headingley in Leeds, which also marks the beginning of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. The series will then move to Birmingham for the second Test, followed by the prestigious Lord's Cricket Ground, which will host the third Test from July 10. Old Trafford in Manchester and The Oval in London will stage the final two Tests of the series.

Leading India into this new chapter is 24-year-old Shubman Gill, widely regarded as one of the brightest batting talents of his generation. He will be supported by wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has been named vice-captain, and new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who is expected to bring a bold, aggressive approach to the team's playbook.

India's 18-member squad includes a mix of youth and experience. Alongside regulars like Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohd. Siraj, the squad features promising names such as Nitish Reddy, and Sai Sudharsan. The selectors have also recalled Karun Nair and Abhimanyu Easwaran to bolster the batting depth.

With several fresh faces and a new leadership group at the helm, India's tour of England promises to be a crucial test - both for the players and for the direction Indian Test cricket takes in the post-Kohli-Rohit era.

India's squad: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
