IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant Equals Massive World Record In Tests! Becomes First Indian To Achieve It

IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant produced a sensational batting display in the ongoing first Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds, rewriting the record books with a historic performance.

Apart from scoring centuries in both innings, becoming the first Indian cricketer to achieve this rare feat in a Test match played in England, he also achieved another massive feat.

Pant hammered a brilliant 134 off 178 balls in the first innings, laced with 12 fours and 6 sixes, and followed it up with an equally impactful 118 off 140 balls in the second innings, smashing 15 fours and 3 sixes. His combined tally of nine sixes in the match helped him equal the world record for the most sixes hit in a Test match played in England, becoming the first Indian to achieve it.

The record was previously held jointly by England greats Andrew Flintoff (vs Australia, Edgbaston 2005) and Ben Stokes (vs Australia, Lord's 2023), both of whom also cleared the ropes nine times in a single Test on home soil. Pant now finds himself in elite company, showcasing his growing stature in the red-ball format.

With this performance, Pant further solidified his reputation as a powerhouse in Test cricket. He now has 82 sixes in 44 Test matches. More impressively, he has now hit 20 sixes in Tests in England, going past Steve Smith's tally of 17 to become the most prolific six-hitter by a visiting batter in England.

Despite Pant's heroics and a century from KL Rahul, India's lower order failed to contribute significantly in the second innings. The team was bowled out for 364, setting England a target of 371 runs. However, the hosts finished Day 4 at 21 without loss, keeping the chase alive.

Regardless of the final result, Rishabh Pant's twin tons and six-hitting spree will be remembered as one of the finest performances by an Indian batter on English soil.
