Rishabh Pant has scored 54 runs in a fighting knock in the first innings against England on Thursday (July 24).
Pant was batting on 37 before retiring hurt due to a toe injury while attempting a reverse sweep. He looked in good touch, bringing up 1,000 Test runs in England with a six. But the injury halted Pant's knock as the batter was taken to hospital for scans.

Despite being advised rest after scans confirmed a fracture, Pant returned to bat the next day, showing resilience and added 17 crucial runs.
Pant has fractured his right foot and is set to be ruled out for the series. As per reports, Narayan Jagadeesan will be coming in as his replacement for the final match of the series. Despite that, the southpaw showcased immense fighting spirit to come out and bat.
Pant arrived at Old Trafford with crutches. Despite his physical struggle, India's vice-captain came out to bat. Although he was struggling to take runs, Pant hit a boundary and a six to get to his 3rd fifty of this series.
Along with that, Rishabh Pant has equalled a prestigious mark along with Virender Sehwag on the day. As Pant hit the only six of the day, he has now equalled with Sehwag for most sixes in Test cricket by an Indian player. Pant is level with Sehwag as both have now hit 90 international Test sixes in their career.
Although Sehwag took 103 matches to reach the sixes mark, Pant has already achieved it in his 47th Test.
India captain Shubman Gill has hit 43 sixes in Test cricket, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has struck 41 sixes. Virat Kohli, a cricketing stalwart, has hit 30 sixes in his Test career.
