Rishabh Pant has suffered a fractured right foot and is subsequently doubtful for the rest of the Old Trafford Test against England.
The India player got injured while batting on Day 1 of the encounter. While batting, an attempted reverse sweep was missed and the ball struck straight at his right foot, leading to immediate distress.

The player was subsequently taken off and played no further part with the bat. BCCI released a statement saying Pant is undergoing scans to know the extent of his injury.
And as per a report from ESPNCricinfo, the player's scans have revealed a fracture. The impending injury means Pant is ruled out of wicketkeeping duties in the match, but a call on his batting role is to be taken by the team management after doctor's consultation.
As per reports, the southpaw has been advised a six-week rest following the injury. Although it will be a massive blow for India if Pant is ruled out, the player may be advised to take a complete break for the greater good.
Pant left the stadium with a golf buggy and was visibly in distress, which reflected the extent of his injury. The player was in doubt of playing in Manchester after he injured his index finger in the last match at Lord's.
After injuring his finger, the southpaw only batted while Dhruv Jurel filled in for wicketkeeping duties. And similarly, Jurel is set to called up for the role behind the stumps in this match as well. If Pant is entirely ruled out, the Indian team will have to play with one batter less as Jurel won't be allowed to bat in this match.
Pant has been prolific in this series for India, scoring 462 runs so far. The swashbuckler has so far scored 2 fifties and 2 centuries in the series and sits 2nd in the run scoring chart in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy so far.
