IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant Out of Lord's Test? BCCI gives Latest Update on India Vice-Captain

By MyKhel Staff

BCCI has given the latest update on Rishabh Pant after his unexpected exit from the field during the ongoing Lord's Test raised immediate concern.

While keeping wickets, Pant appeared to suffer an injury that required prompt medical attention. Although his left leg was quickly taped and he briefly returned to the field, his discomfort was evident. Eventually, Pant walked off, prompting Dhruv Jurel to take over wicketkeeping duties.

The seriousness of the situation was further highlighted when Gautam Gambhir, typically composed in the dressing room, made his way down to check on Pant personally. Visuals of Pant grimacing in pain left little doubt that the issue was troubling.

IND vs ENG: BCCI gives update on Rishabh Pant

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave an update on Rishabh Pant's current status after he left the field. Pant has been hit on his left index finger and is currently under the observation of the BCCI medical team.

Will Rishabh Pant Bat in This Match?

As things stand, Rishabh Pant is still expected to bat. According to cricket regulations, Jurel is allowed to keep wickets in Pant's absence, but cannot replace him in the batting lineup. Should Pant be unable to return with the bat, it would leave India a batter short - a significant setback given his current form.

Pant has been a vital cog in the Indian batting unit this series, registering two centuries and a half-century to become the team's second-highest run-getter so far in this series.

England chose to bat first after winning the toss at Lord's and Joe Root has been the key performer for the hosts. After Nitish Reddy dismissed both England openers in the same over, Root remains unbeaten on 83 runs as England are 228 for 4 at the moment. England captain Ben Stokes is with him unbeaten at the crease on 33 runs.
