Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the Test series against England after sustaining a foot injury during the 4th Test in Manchester.
While batting on 37 runs, Pant attempted a reverse sweep against a yorker delivery from Chris Woakes but missed, resulting in the ball striking his right foot tightly just below the toe. The impact caused severe pain and swelling, with a small cut visible near the injury site.

Pant was immediately in distress, requiring on-field medical attention before being taken off the field in a buggy for further treatment. This injury forced him to retire hurt, making it unlikely for Pant to participate further in the match. After scans, it is revealed that the India star has fractured his right foot.
Pant's foot injury is another setback for the Indian team, already coping with other injuries in the squad, and it has raised concerns about his availability and the team's batting depth in this crucial Test series. As the India star is set to be ruled out for at least six weeks, BCCI is set to name a replacement for the 5th Test.
Although there were reports that Ishan Kishan will be roped in for the final match, a report from Cricbuzz says Narayan Jagadeesan will be the one replacing Pant for the final match. Kishan, who is playing County Cricket with Northamptonshire, has been deemed unavailable due to his duties with the county team.
Jagadeesan, who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, is being tipped to fly to London ahead of the 5th Test. Although team India have Dhruv Jurel in the side, Jagadeesan will be the likely replacement for injured Pant.
Jagadeesan had a superb outing for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy last season. He amassed 674 runs at an average of 56, scoring 2 centuries and 5 fifties in the process. The crafty batter is known for his shot-making and has represented the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
