IND vs ENG: Sarfaraz Khan severely scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal in front of packed Rajkot Stadium, wins heart later

IND vs ENG: Sarfaraz Khan severely scolded his batting partner Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

On the fourth ball of the 94th over from leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, pushed the ball towards deep cover and quickly completed a single before rushing back for a double. However, Jaiswal, who was batting at an individual score of 197 then, showed no interest as the debutant was forced to rush back from the halfway mark.

A livid Sarfaraz Khan blasted Yashasvi Jaiswal once he made it safely inside the popping crease at the non-striker's end. Sarfaraz Khan was seen pointing at his brain while venting his anger at Jaiswal, who is his junior in the Mumbai squad.

Replays showed that the call from Sarfaraz was alright, and Jaiswal could have easily come back for a double. Rohit Sharma also seemed unhappy with the reluctance shown by the 22-year-old opener to not commit to an easy double.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also seemed to have admitted his mistake and did not talk back to 26-year-old Sarfaraz Khan who made his first-class debut for Mumbai in December 2014. Jaiswal played his first first-class debut for Mumbai in January 2019. Interestingly, both the batters hail from Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Sarfaraz Khan smashed a 48-ball fifty in his debut Test innings, but got run out later after a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja who was batting on 99 at that point. Rohit Sharma had thrown his cap in anger in the dressing room after Jadeja's mistake cost India the wicket of free-flowing Sarfaraz in the first innings.

Sarfaraz was shell shocked after retracting back to his crease after making the call for a single, but could not even vent his frustration in front of the 70-Test veteran.

However, Sarfaraz Khan soon made up for his brutal scolding by hugging Yashasvi Jaiswal twice in the next 15 deliveries. The right-hand batter first hugged him after completing his fifty.

Later, he was seen raising both his hands in excitement before setting off for a single from the non-striker's which completed Jaiswal's second double hundred in consecutive Test matches.

Sarfaraz Khan became only the fourth player after Dilawar Hussain, Sunil Gavaskar and Shreyas Iyer hit fifty-plus scores in both the innings of the debut Test.

The sixth wicket partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal (214* off 236) and Sarfaraz Khan (68* off 72) accounted for 172 unbeaten runs off just 158 balls. India declared their second innings at 430/4 to set England a 557-run target.
