IND vs ENG: Shreyas Iyer Surpasses Virat & Rohit To Join An Elite List In T20Is For India
Indian T20I captain, Shreyas Iyer, has become the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win consecutive tosses in T20Is. The PBKS skipper has now won 7 T20Is in a row. In doing so, he surpassed the previous benchmark jointly held by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Kohli had won six successive tosses in 2019, while Rohit and Dhoni managed streaks of five consecutive toss wins during 2020-22 and 2007, respectively. However, unlike his predecessors, Iyer has been unable to convert his luck at the toss into victories, remaining winless since taking over the captaincy.

Here is the list of Indian skippers who have won consecutive tosses in T20Is:
Most consecutive toss wins an India captain (T20Is)
- 7 MS Dhoni (2010-12)
- 7 Shreyas Iyer (2026) *
- 6 Virat Kohli (2019)
- 5 MS Dhoni (2007)
- 5 Rohit Sharma (2020-22)
Interestingly, five T20 Internationals in Southampton since 2021 have all been won by the side batting first. Naturally, Shreyas and co. will be eying to end the series on a positive note.
India Elects To Bowl First After Winning The Toss
India made a promising start with the ball after captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field in the fifth and final T20I against England at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, on Saturday.
The visitors also made a significant selection call by leaving out teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after a disappointing debut series. With pride and crucial ICC T20I ranking points at stake, India will be eager to produce a strong all-round performance and avoid ending the tour without a victory.
India entered the contest hoping to end the series on a positive note after England had already secured an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The opener in Chester-le-Street was washed out before England registered convincing wins in Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol.
