India captain Rohit Sharma has asserted his authority during the Toss of the 2nd semifinal against England on Thursday (June 27).

India are up against the defending champions in the semifinal in Guyana. The match has already been interrupted with rain and the toss took place almost around one and a half hours after the scheduled time.

And during Toss, Rohit Sharma gave a befitting reply to England captain Jos Buttler, who won the toss and put India to bat first. He also spoke that it would be an advantage for the English to bowl first after the pitch being under cover for such a long time.

"We'll bowl first. Looks like a good surface, the bounce will be low, with the rain around, we thought it'll be a bit of an advantage to bowl first. Looking forward to a great challenge against a top side. Excited to be in a semi-final, but some of us have been here before," Buttler said at the toss.

But the India captain replied in his majestic style and said that India would have batted first all along. He also stressed the importance of putting runs on the board.

"We would have batted first, the weather looks good, whatever had to happen, it has already happened. We wanted to put runs on the board. The pitch tends to get slower as the game goes on. We understand the challenge of playing a tournament like this, a lot of travel and logistics. It's a chance to play some good cricket," Rohit said at the toss. The India captain also confirmed an unchanged lineup for the semifinal.
