IND vs ENG: 'We know of a Former Player...' - Sanjay Manjrekar takes a dig at Virat Kohli on Air amid strong India start

By MyKhel Staff

India have made a superb start to the 1st Test against England at Headingley as both of their openers have starred with their batting skills in the first session of the match.

After put into bat, Shubman Gill's men have negotiated the tricky first session expertly, navigating their innings amid the English onslaught.

And while describing the excellent batting former India player and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar took a certain dig at Virat Kohli on air

Despite the sunny conditions, the ball has swung, but the Indian openers - Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul played with utmost care and perseverance to weather the storm.

Jaiswal was the more aggressive of the two at the start, including boundaries that capitalized on any loose deliveries, while Rahul played a steadier role. But as the session progressed, the latter broke the shcakles and played a few exquisite shots.

The pitch, described as hard with some live grass, offered early assistance to the bowlers, but England's relatively inexperienced bowling attack, featuring Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Shoaib Bashir, struggled to create consistent threats.

And while describing the excellent batting, former India player and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar took a certain dig at Virat Kohli on air. After KL Rahul left alone a ball outside off stump, Manjrekar blatantly said a former player would have thrown away his wicket while chasing that delivery. Although he didn't take a name, the indication was clear.

"We know of a former player who would have chased that delivery and get himself in trouble, but these two are not doing that. KL Rahul has left alone every ball outside off, and has played exquisite shots on the deliveries in stumps," Manjerkar said while commentating for Jio Hotstar.

Manjrekar also lauded the duo for giving India the perfect start and said their partnership of 50+ runs is the most important fifty runs for India in this series, which is important for setting the tone. India are on the verge of Lunch and are currently 91 for 1. KL Raul has been dismissed on 42 runs while Jaiswal is also unbeaten on 41.
