India and England have set up the five-match Test series perfectly as we enter the final two encounters.
After the conclusion of the 3rd Test, England lead the series 2-1, which came after their epic victory at Lord's. India, chasing 193 runs in the Lord's Test, got bundled out for 170 runs. Ravindra Jadeja played a valiant knock but it was Shoaib Bashir who had the final say as he got Mohammed Siraj's wicket.

With three matches done and dusted, India have a huge task in their hand as they play England in the final two matches.
The next Test match between India and England is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. This fixture is the fourth Test in the ongoing five-match series, which is part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship.
Notably, there is an eight-day gap between the conclusion of the third Test, which ends on July 14, and the start of the fourth Test. There was a similar break between the first and second Test, and now it repeats the same.
Such extended intervals between Test matches are not uncommon in international cricket, especially in high-profile series played in England. The primary reasons for this scheduling include providing players with adequate rest and recovery time after the physically and mentally demanding nature of Test cricket.
Additionally, these gaps offer broadcasters and organisers the flexibility to manage logistics and promotional activities around marquee fixtures. In the past, there used to be practice matches scheduled in these extended breaks, which is not the case in this series for India. After the fourth Test, there shall be a three-day break before the 5th and final Test match, which will be played at the Oval in London.
