IND vs ENG, World Cup 2023: Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah spells in numbers

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami showed the cricket world how to do fast bowling in sub-continent conditions with the white ball as the duo ran through the England top-order while defending a total of 230 during their latest ICC World Cup 2023 match in Lucknow.

Mohammad Shami took three wickets in his opening spell while Jasprit Bumrah took his two wickets off two balls, including the golden duck dismissal of modern-day great Joe Root, to leave England stuttering at 52/5 by the beginning of the 16th over. The duo eventually finished with seven of the wickets on the night as Bumrah (3/32) took the last wicket of the match to bundle out England for a mere 129 runs in 34.5 overs and win the game by 100 runs. Mohammed Shami (4/22) was the top performer with the ball as he took his fourth wicket of the night in Adil Rashid.

Earlier India posted a 229/8 in 50 overs after being asked to bat first. Rohit Sharma scored a crucial 87 after Virat Kohli departed for a nought. Suryakumar Yadav missed out on a half-century as he got out on 49 while KL Rahul contributed a 39.
