IND vs ENG: Yashasvi Jaiswal's 'Three Pillars of Success' as he scores Century in Headingley Test

Yashasvi Jaiswal, India's prodigious opening batsman, announced his arrival on English soil in spectacular fashion, scoring a resilient century on Day 1 of the first Test against England at Headingley.

The 23-year-old left-hander's 101 off 159 balls, despite battling hand cramps, has anchored India to a commanding decent score, setting the tone for a highly anticipated five-match series.

Jaiswal's fifth Test century, and his third against England, was a masterclass in temperament and adaptability. Playing his maiden Test innings in England, the young opener showcased his ability to thrive under pressure in challenging conditions.

The Indian batter got dismissed just after Tea, as he got cleaned up by Ben Stokes for 101 runs. But nevertheless, his knock of 101 has set a template for the visitors' batters. And on a tricky deck at Headingley, he did a few things alright for his stellar knock.

The Resilience

The innings was not without its challenges. Towards the end of the second session, Jaiswal battled visible discomfort due to cramps in his right forearm. Undeterred, he smashed three consecutive boundaries off Brydon Carse, including a majestic cover drive, before nudging a single to reach his hundred. His celebration-arms aloft, helmet off, and a roar of triumph, reflected the significance of the milestone. He was hit on the right rib earlier, but continued without showing any visible pain. Although it did hurt, the youngster stood tall and weathered the storm.

The Full Face

Yashasvi's standout feature so far has been the way he has tried to hit straight. The India batter has scored the majority of his runs in front of the wicket, albeit straight drives or majestic cover drives. The 23-year-old has tackled Brydon Carse with cuts on offside as he bowled a bit shorter, but all the other bowlers were smashed down the ground. The template of playing with the straight bat, soft singles and extremely industrious running between the wickets played pivotal role in Jaiswal's knock, which
