By MyKhel Staff

IND vs NED: Netherlands all-rounder Bas de Leede broke his father Tim de Leede's record (14 wickets) to become the Netherlands player with most wickets in the ODI World Cups. The 23-year-old pacer achieved the feat in the 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, November 12.

Bas de Leede finished his World Cup 2023 campaign with 16 wickets at an average of 30.43 and an economy rate of 7.26. He picked the most wickets for Netherlands in the World Cup 2023 and was followed by Paul van Meekeren and Logan van Beek who picked 12 wickets each.

Leede registered figures of 2/82 in 10 overs against India. He picked the wickets of India captain Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul who smashed a 62-ball hundred in the match.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Each of their top five batters scored over 50 runs as India finished at 410/4 in 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer (128* in 94 balls with 10 fours and five sixes) and KL (102) smashed scintillating hundreds for the Men in Blue.

But knocks from Rohit Sharma (61 in 54 balls with eight fours and two sixes), Shubman Gill (51 in 32 balls, with three fours and four sixes) and Virat Kohli (51 in 56 balls, with five fours and a six) laid the foundation at the start.

India later bundled out Netherlands for 250 runs in 47.5 overs to win the match by 160 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets apiece. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also picked a wicket each.

India, the only unbeaten side in the league stage, will face New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 5.
