He hit back-to-back sixes on the first two deliveries of the 49th over from Bas de Leede to reach to the milestone. He broke India captain Rohit Sharma's 63-ball record which had achieved in the match against Afghanistan in Delhi in the ongoing World Cup 2023.

Virender Sehwag smashed a 81-ball hundred against Bermuda in the 2007 World Cup. Virat Kohli, who scored 51 runs in the match, hit a 83-ball hundred against Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup.
The 102-run score by KL Rahul is the second-highest by an India wicketkeeper-batter in the ODI World Cup. Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, scored 145 runs against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup.
Shreyas Iyer also smashed his maiden ODI World Cup hundred in the match. He scored 128 unbeaten runs off 94 balls. The innings from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer propelled India to their seven 400-plus total in the ODIs. The 410-run total is India's second best in the World Cup. It's the fifth-highest total ever in the history of the ODI World Cups.
