IND vs NZ 1st Test, Weather Report Today: Bengaluru Weather Forecast for October 16 Hints to Play Spoilsport

By MyKhel Staff

As Team India gears up for the opening Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Tuesday, October 16, weather concerns loom large over the much-anticipated match. India is riding high after a commanding 2-0 clean sweep against Bangladesh.

Whereas, New Zealand is eager to recover from a recent 0-2 defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka. Both teams have their eyes on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points, with India currently leading the standings and New Zealand needing crucial wins to keep their hopes alive for the WTC 2025 final.

The IND vs NZ 1st Test will take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, but rain may play spoilsport. Heavy rain has already disrupted Team India's practice session on Tuesday, with forecasters predicting overcast skies and showers throughout the five days of play.

India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli will be in the spotlight as they look to regain form after disappointing performances in their last red-ball outings. The team will miss young batter Shubman Gill due to a neck niggle.

Whereas, New Zealand will be without their experienced batter Kane Williamson. Despite these setbacks, India remains confident, especially after their resilient performance against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

There, they managed to secure a win on the final day despite losing two days to rain. New Zealand, however, will be determined to bounce back after their loss to Sri Lanka and challenge India's dominance on home soil.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast Today (Tuesday, October 16)

As per weather reports, cloudy skies and rain are expected throughout the day, potentially affecting play. According to AccuWeather, there is only a 5-8% chance of rain in the early morning hours, and the match is set to begin at 9:30 AM IST under overcast conditions.

However, by 1:00 PM IST, the likelihood of rain increases to 51%, raising concerns of a disrupted afternoon session. Bad light may also impact play, as overcast conditions are expected to persist, necessitating the use of floodlights after the Tea break.

The chances of a thunderstorm decrease between 3 PM and 6 PM. With both teams keen on gaining valuable WTC points, the Bengaluru weather could play a critical role in shaping the game planning of this exciting series opener.
