Ravindra Jadeja entered the top 5 wicket-takers for India in Tests during the third and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (November 1).
The 35-year-old, who started the opening day of the Mumbai Test behind Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, surpassed the former Indian pace duo with three wickets in the post-lunch session on day 1.

Jadeja first removed the well-set Will Young as the New Zealand number three batter edged one to Rohit Sharma at slip. The wicket ended an 87-run stand as Young departed for 71.
The left-arm spin bowling all-rounder struck again in the same over as he cleaned up New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell for a three-ball duck. This dismisall took Jadeja level with Zaheer and Ishant at 311 wickets each in Test cricket.
Jadeja later removed Glenn Phillips also clean bowled just before the tea break, leaving New Zealand at 192/6 at the end of the second session on day 1 after the visitors opted to bat first.
The dismissal of Phillips for 17 saw Jadeja's Test wickets tally increase to 313, taking the left-arm spinner into the top 5 wicket-takers list in Test cricket by Indian players. Later, the star all-rounder trapped Ish Sodhi LBW and cleaned up Matthew Henry in the same over post the tea break to claim his 14th Test five-wicket haul.
With thos two scalps, Jadeja wen past another bowler, who has had a good last two weeks in Kagiso Rabada. The South African pacer claimed five-wicket hauls in the team's recent success against Bangladesh. Jadeja in now the sixth highest wicket-taker among active cricketers.
Coming back to the Mumbai Test, New Zealand reached 210/8 after 61 overs with Daryl Mitchell (64*) was unbeaten at the crease. Apart from Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep also were among the wickets for India.
