Paul Reiffel and Richard Illingworth, both part of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, have been named as the on-field umpires for the grand finale. Their vast experience in officiating high-pressure matches will be crucial in ensuring fair play in the title decider.
Illingworth, a four-time ICC Umpire of the Year, has officiated in several marquee finals, including the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, he also stood in the group-stage encounter between India and New Zealand earlier in the tournament, which the Men in Blue won convincingly by 44 runs.
Reiffel, a former Australian cricketer, officiated in New Zealand's semi-final clash against South Africa, where the Kiwis secured a 50-run victory. Meanwhile, Illingworth was in charge during India's hard-fought four-wicket win over Australia in the other semi-final.
Alongside the on-field umpires, the ICC has also appointed Joel Wilson as the third umpire and Kumar Dharmasena as the fourth umpire for the contest. Wilson previously served as the third umpire in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 final, further adding to his wealth of experience in major finals. Dharmasena, another Elite Panel umpire, was part of the officiating team in New Zealand's semi-final against South Africa.
The match referee for the final will be Ranjan Madugalle, the most senior member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. With decades of experience in international cricket, Madugalle's presence ensures a smooth and professionally conducted final.
With a star-studded lineup of officials, the Champions Trophy 2025 final is set to be a thrilling encounter between two of the world's best teams, ensuring high-quality officiating throughout the contest.
