The Indian team faced an unexpected setback on home ground as New Zealand achieved a remarkable victory. The Kiwis not only won a single match but managed to sweep the entire three-match Test series, marking a significant achievement in their cricket history.
Gautam Gambhir's role as India's head coach took a challenging turn during his second red-ball assignment. The Indian team experienced a 3-0 series defeat, which was their first whitewash in 24 years and unprecedented on home soil.

India's loss raises questions about what went wrong with the squad known for its resilience. The sudden shift from success to defeat has arrived like a bolt from the blue, but it requires a deep retrospection, especially ahead of the crucial Australia series, which is less than three weeks away.
Amid this, India legend Sachin Tendulkar has raised three questions on the performance of the India team. The legendary cricketer took to social media on Sunday and asked the reason behind the abysmal performance of the team.
"Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow, and it calls for introspection.
Was it lack of preparation, was it poor shot selection, or was it lack of match practice?" Tendulkar wrote on X.
Although lack of match practice doesn't look like the case, but lack of preparation and some baffling shot selection did trouble India in the series.
He also credited New Zealand for their amazing performance, something which was unprecedented and thoroughly excellent for any neutral. The Kiwis never looked in awe in the entire series and troubled India across departments.
Tendulkar also pointed out the positives of the series, which was minimal for the Indian team. He went on to mention Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant for their showing in the series. Gill missed out the first Test but had a couple of decent knocks, while Pant looked a different class altogether.
"Shubman Gill showed resilience in the first innings, and Rishabh Pant was brilliant in both innings- his footwork made a challenging surface look like a different one altogether. He was simply superb," the post from Tendulkar added.
