IND vs NZ: Fans were livid at Virat Kohli after Suryakumar Yadav got run out in his debut World Cup match against New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22. Surayakumar Yadav scored two runs off four balls.
On the fifth ball of the 34th over, Suryakumar Yadav pushed a Trent Boult delivery towards cover and set off for a single. However, Virat Kohli did not commit his hundred percent and showed reluctance as Mitchell Santner made a sensational dive to get hold of the ball and release it immediately towards Trent Boult who was standing at the centre of the pitch.

Kohli ran back to the non-striker's end, leaving Suryakumar Yadav with no other option than making a futile effort to get back to the wicket-keeper's end. Boult sent the ball to Tom Latham with an underarm throw and the New Zealand captain dislodged the stump with Suryakumar Yadav nowhere in the picture.
Suryakumar walked back to the pavilion devastated and did not even look once back at Kohli who himself was filled with guilt and shock. The replays hinted that the single could have been completed had Kohli committed fully to Suryakumar's call. Even the throw from Santner landed in the hands of Boult who was standing in the middle of the pitch.
The wicket reduced India to 191/5 in their 274-run chase. Ravindra Jadeja, the last India player in the India eleven with batting credentials, joined Kohli moments later. Fans slammed Virat Kohli and called him selfish for not properly responding to Suryakumar Yadav's call.
